Cold processable emulsifiers are more and more demanded due to the fact that customers (and producers) are becoming more environmentally-friendly oriented. Our two high-HLB Sucrose Ester grades Sisterna SP70-C and PS750-C are suitable for making cold process formulations. Using Sucrose Esters as the emulsifier also gives extra benefits as it enables a soft touch, skin mildness and skin moisturization by itself.

How to influence viscosity Sucrose Esters do not give a viscosity increase by itself, but as they decrease the greasiness and oiliness of the (high) oil content drastically, you are able to increase the oil phase up to 60% to achieve the desired viscosity. Furthermore the type of oil can have a (positive) effect on the viscosity, which can easily be tested on the lab. Beware about the perfume, preservative system and active, though. They can have a thinning behavior on the formulation. See our Technical Note for more formulation information.

Lotions can be made as well as medium viscous creams by selecting the right oil phase. See the video for a visual representation between the different viscosities of our CE.003 Lagom Lotion and CE.004 Moisturising Cream.
